The problem with diet soft drinks…


While diet soft drinks don’t have any fat or sugar, it doesn’t mean they’re any better for you than the real thing. Diet soft drinks may seem like the perfect go to if you’re trying to fix your diet and lose weight, but in reality, they’re full of fake ingredients and artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame, cyclamates, saccharin and sucralose.

Diet soft drinks don’t help you to lose weight, while it may be zero calorie it doesn’t mean the ingredients are going to do good things for your health. Your body reacts to the artificial sweeteners the same way your body reacts to sugar, which, in turn, can lead to weight gain.

Diet soft drink is supposed to help prevent type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome, but what if it is helping cause it? One study suggests, that consuming these drinks regularly can lead to a 67% increase of type 2 diabetes and a 36% increase of metabolic syndrome.

There is no nutritional value in consuming diet soft drink, it doesn’t sustain you and leaves you feeling hungry, tired and leaves you craving more sweet foods. It doesn’t have anything in it that benefits your body and, over time, can be dangerous to your health.

Diet soft drinks may be bad for you heart. One study found, that those who drink one diet soft drink a day have a 43% higher risk of experiencing a cardiovascular disease as opposed to those who don’t drink any.

Overall diet soft drinks don’t benefit you in any way and can do more harm than good. If you’re looking for a calorie free, sugar-free, fat-free AND guilt free drink, I suggest water.
