Drinking 1-2 tablespoon/s in apple cider vinegar diluted in water is tremendously popular in the health and fitness community, and for good reasons. People claim that it helps you to lose weight by curbing your appetite and boosting your metabolism. But it does a whole lot more than that…
- Kills harmful bacteria + has preserving properties
A substance in apple cider vinegar called acetic acid is able to kill bad bacteria. This makes ACV useful for household cleaning, killing pathogens. It can preserve food as the acetic acid prevents harmful bacteria from growing.
- Lowers blood sugar levels
This is especially good if you have or are at risk of having type 2 diabetes. In a nutshell, it basically can improve your insulin sensitivity. This is also beneficial after meals, particularly if you’re eating something high in carbs.
- Good for acne
It helps to unclog the pores in your skin, thus helping to treat your acne.
- Digestive health
Having ACV prior to a meal as it helps with digestion and digestive discomfort. Making sure your food digests smoothly.
Due to the fermentation process, ACV contains prebiotics (what promotes the growth of good bacteria in the gut) and other good bacteria. It also fights back against harmful bacteria/pathogens (as mentioned in the first dot point) thus benefiting immunity.
Apple cider vinegar has many properties that can be beneficial to one’s health. Simply dilute one tablespoon in water and enjoy the benefits (but don’t take it to heart as you mightn’t notice much of a difference).
